Last night, Matt was honored by the City of Azusa for his involvement with and contributions to city programs that seek racial reconcilation and inclusion. In other words, he was honored for being a great citizen. Emma and I were on hand, along with many of Matt's biggest fans from the APU community. In addition to receiving a signed proclamation from the Mayor and the entire City Council, the Human Relations Commission (which Matt serves as a member of) was present in support of all that Matt has accomplished. Because I'm his wife and I get to brag, I thought I'd include the last few lines from the Proclamation for your reading enjoyment...
"Whereas concerns about respect for diversity, basic human dignity, compassion for others and love for all forms of life has mobilized various groups and individuals such as Matt Visser to bring about a shared understanding to our cultural differences; and Whereas continual efforts, motivation and utmost dedication to enhance the mission of the Commission and the community; to recognize Matt Visser as a model individual for his contribution made in part to the celebration of Hands Across Azusa; Now therefore, the City Council of the City of Azusa recognizes Matt Visser as an outstanding individual, and calls upon all citizens to be cognizant, develop skills to be patient, loving to one another, regardless of differences and share compassion with all."

Dang Matt!!
I knew that you were a stud, but to be a compassionate loving Child of God puts even more pressure on me to make a difference! Now I have to work that much harder, just to stay at #2!!
Congrats, no one deserves it more than you.. you are a great man.. and a great brother to look up to.
All my love,
pvis
I had to look up the word cognizant.. wow.. I am un-educated
Congratulations for being recognized!!
I know you would say that you are just following the gospel, but the sad thing is that few people actually do that (myself often included in that).
Good work...
